How to Breathe New Life into an Old Computer with the StartMeStick

Do you have an old computer at home that you’re no longer using? It might have a blue error screen (called the blue screen of death) and not start up anymore? Or it might be frustratingly slow and you’re simply tired of seeing the spinner every time you click something. Maybe you stopped receiving security updates so it’s no longer safe to use on the Internet.

Taking your computer into a repair shop is not only inconvenient, but it can also cost more than $100 just for them to tell you there is nothing they can do. Buying a new computer can also be hard on your budget, as well as wasteful.

What if we told you that you could revive your old computers easily with just one little USB key and a few simple steps?

Introducing the StartMeStick: the most affordable and efficient way to breathe new life into an old computer. Everything you do online you can do with the StartMeStick, e.g. social networks, search, email, video, music, games, business apps, Zoom, etc.

What is the StartMeStick?

The StartMeStick is a private computing device on a USB stick. It temporarily restarts your computer from an operating system on the stick. The StartMeStick has a Chrome browser that is fastsecure, and private for everything you want to do online.

Similar to our FixMeStick, the StartMeStick is conveniently contained within a USB – all you need to do is plug it in, and you’ll be able to breathe new life into your old computer, making it run as good as new again.

The StartMeStick also never slows down because it doesn’t save anything; it doesn’t collect the junk that causes frustrating errors, crashes, freezes, and slowdowns. It is like brand new every time you use it.

90% of customers give the StartMeStick 5 stars! Ready to try it out? Click here to get yours!

How Does the StartMeStick Bring Your Computer Back to Life?

Often if your operating system is no longer receiving security updates (like Windows 7), it won’t boot to your login screen or is just painfully slow – however, the computer itself is still perfectly fine. As long as your computer is able to turn on and show some form of activity you can use the StartMeStick to give your computer a second chance.

The StartMeStick runs from a system on the USB stick allowing it to bypass any existing issues with your computer. Use the StartMeStick when you need to turn any computer into a fast, secure, and private one.

    • Janette Wilder -

Good morning,I have older fix me sticks i got a new laptop last year for Christmas can the fix me stick be used on that, also i gave my grandson an older HP stream i brought it about 4years ago can the fix me stick be used on that?

      • Linda -

Hi Janette, yes the StartMeStick should work on computers that are 4 years old as well as newer Windows 10 computers.

    • Linda -

Hi Rubi, the StartMeStick is a plug-in operating system that revitalizes computers that may no longer be fully functional. It is different from the FixMeStick as the FixMeStick simply removes viruses from your normal operating system.

  1. Rick Burch -

I Have had “FixMeStick” for a few years but I have not renewed recently.
Di I need to do this 1st?
How does this differ from FixMeStick?

    • Linda -

Hi Rick, it looks like the blue FixMeStick listed under your account is good for use! If you experience any issues using it, please send us an email at As for the StartMeStick, it is actually a plug-in operating system that revitalizes computers that may no longer be fully functional, it will not remove viruses and scan your computer like FixMeStick does.

  2. clifford sarrault -

    1. I have a laptop with windows vista on it. Will the start-me stick work on it?

    2. Can I take the vista off the computer and still use the start-me stick

    • Linda -

Hi Clifford, the StartMeStick works on Windows Vista computers! If you remove the Windows operating system, you can still boot into the StartMeStick as long as your computer has functioning hardware components.

  3. david lloyd -

hi if it is as good as my fix me stick I have an old computer that is like watching paint dry so yes i would like one thanks.

    • Linda -

Hi David, if your old computer has functioning hardware components, then you can definitely use StartMeStick to give it a second life!

  4. Paul Teed -

Presently Fixmestick unable to function on my laptop, message no drivers.

    • Linda -

Hi Paul, to better assist you with this issue we’ve sent you an email with some troubleshooting instructions. Please check your email, thanks!

  5. Iris Grayson -

If I have documents saved on the old computer that are prepared with MS Word or Excel, can that be accessed using StartMeStick?

    • Linda -

Hi Iris, depending on the setting on your computer, you may or may not be able to access these Excel files in read-only format from StartMeStick. Using the StartMeStick you can also transfer these files onto an external USB storage device, and then open them onto another computer if needed.

  6. Wesley M. Colyer -

I bought a Sony PC win7 from The battery went dead as I was using it.. I pluged it into AC oulet, and a black screen came up with this note:: TFGHT is compressed PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart…. I press all 3 at the same time.. The PC restarts, screen flickers like its going to start, then back to black screen and note..

Will your StartMeStick get me back in the Sony PC ???

    • Linda -

Hi Wesley, this error message could indicate an issue with your Windows 7 OS. Generally, if your Sony PC has working hardware components like a working screen, keyboard etc, then StartMeStick would be able to revive it! You will just need to boot the StartMeStick outside of Windows using your computer’s boot menu.

  7. Sharon Carpenter -

Dear Start Me Stick: I keep my folders and files on a Traveler or some call it an outside USB stick. I put it in my computer everyday for my files I keep and use all the time. Can I use that with the Start Me Stick and use the Internet too. I need both daily.
I have used the Fix Me Stick for years and am excited to use this new product as well on a slow computer. I am looking to buy your product over the other one available even though it’s a little less expensive because of the quality of the Fix Me Stick. I hope to get a yes answer.

    • Linda -

Hi Sharon, thanks for reading our blog. To answer your question – yes, you can definitely use StartMeStick with your traveler/external USB storage stick! The StartMeStick requires an internet connection to browse online so you will need an internet connection. If you run into any issues with the StartMeStick and the USB storage stick, please send us an email at so we can take a look for you.

  8. Mary Mcnamara -

I’d this a one time charge of $9.99 or is this a recurring charge?. I want to know before I buy.

    • Linda -

Hi Mary, this $9.99 charge is the cost to try StartMeStick for one month. After that, you will have to pay a subscription fee to use the stick and get the latest software updates on it.

  9. HARVEY -

    I am cross.

Just remind me of the benefits I’m supposed to be getting with the StartMeStick device?

Now lets get this straight…You want me to pay you £64.99 a year for the pleasure of having my computer crippled by the ‘StuffmeComputerStick’?

….I don’t think THAT’S going to happen any time soon.

I have turned on Google sync…

I still can’t access my Desk Top.

What a pile of pants this really is.

This device takes my computer back to the stone age.

Its like a super smooth automatic transmission that will only drive the car in reverse.

Its like the Fourth of July without fireworks.

Its the sizzle without the sausage.

    You get the idea…

After the ease and effectiveness of using ‘FixMeStick’ this other product is a real let down.

    I’m losing my patience.

So….any ideas how I can keep on using my computer in the same way I do now, after I insert the ‘Instant LOBOTOMY device’ A.K.A ‘StuffmeComputerStick’ or as you like to call it ‘StartMeStick’.

I’m certain if this ‘product’ was presented first in ‘Dragons Den’…no one would have taken it up.

“Yeah Dragons, we have this great product that makes your computer like new, and by ‘new’ we mean you’ll have no populated Desktop, no existing shortcuts, no saved passwords – in fact Dragons, this device sets you back a hundred years, to a time where the worst a hacker could do was to steal a bead off your abacus”

    • Linda -

Hi Harvey, thanks for your feedback and sorry to see that StartMeStick didn’t meet your standards. Please note that we did not design the StartMeStick to give you access to your desktop. The point of the device is to protect your host computer so viruses cannot attack it, this is why you cannot access any files on your host computer while using StartMeStick. If you have further questions about the device, please send them to and we’d be glad to assist you!

  10. Dale -

Will the start me stick kill pop ups so I can watch online streaming sights without interruptions.

    • Linda -

Hi Dale, thanks for reading our blog! And yes! The StartMeStick gives you a fresh computer (operating system) each session as it does not save anything onto the stick itself like popups. It resets to factory settings after each use. If there are popups that have been downloaded onto your computer, you will not see them with StartMeStick. If the popups are not downloaded onto your computer and are coming from the website, then you may still see some popups during your StartMeStick session.

  11. Peter Remeny -

Will it work with Win XP Pro? Intel T2300 Processor @1.66 GHz
Questions: This screen appeared after booting:
    1) Upon bootup, System RAM, and SRAM cache passed. System BIOS and Video BIOS shadowed
    Mouse initialized
0271: Check date and time settings
0251: System CMOS checksum bad-default configuration used

    Press to resume, to setup
What do you suggest? Is there a clock battery that needs replacing?
    How do I proceed safely?
P.S. I have and like your FixMeStick!
    Thank you,

    • Linda -

Will the StartMeStick operate on 32 bit computers?
    What is the cost?
Is the cost a one time charge or an endless, reoccurring charge.
I assume text support goes with the purchase, right?

    • Linda -

Hi Bert, as long as the PCs is made after 2001 or if the Macs is made between 2006 and 2017, then StartMeStick will work! You also need a USB port on the computer as well as an internet connection.

  15. Cory-Lynn Penhall -
